our kids

Sirenity had to stay with her grandparents for two months while Gabby was going through radiation.

Last year Gabby our five year old girl was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor called medulloblastoma. We, myself and her father, never left Gabby’s side. We dedicated our lives to Gabby’s recovery. Our six year old daughter Sirenity also sacrificed a ton during this time. Sirenity’s life changed when she went to live with her grandparents. My mother and my husband’s mother pitched in and helped with looking after our second child. This was a huge change for Sirenity. She adjusted well but you always worry how children are going to handle things.

After Gabby was diagnosed, she started radiation. Gabby’s radiation lasted two full months. We stayed by her side for the entire two months. The radiation treatment lasted from Monday through Friday. We were able to come home from the hospital on the weekends.

After surgery Gabby was not able to talk for 6 months. We did not know if she was ever going to talk again. She was not even strong enough to hold her own head up or walk. Today, she is still not able to walk on her own. Gabby is in therapy and works hard every day to walk and do other physical activities.

Due to being out of work, we moved in with my grandparents. The many trips for appointment and treatments are very costly and add up in a hurry. Gabby’s dad left after a month and began to work and take care Sirenity. Sirenity loved being with her father again.

Gabby passed her year mark cancer free this year August 27th as well as chemo completion over the weekend. Two months of radiation & 9 rounds of chemo. It was not easy, but we got through it with a cancer survivor as a daughter. Gabby is such a fighter.

Thank you for helping us this Christmas. It will take a long time to get back to where we used to be.
