our kids

Hastiin

Hastiin is the same age as his brother Keenan. They both live with their sister Mya, who was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia type B-ALL this year.

Mya was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia type B-ALL May 13th, 2020. The day we were told that Mya has cancer I’ve never felt sicker and so in shock in my life. The worst thoughts just ran through my head, thinking my child wouldn’t be with me, how sick she’s going to be from the chemo, and how her own body is giving up on her. Going from a completely normal life with a healthy beautiful daughter, three wonderful boys, working full time, taking fun trips to the beach, park, has all come to a stop. Adjusting to not working anymore and hoping that my husband is able to make bill payments himself so I’m able to stay home to take care of Mya and get her to and from her clinical appointments, my boys not understanding why Mya is sick, why she looks different, to my oldest son being terrified to go near her because he was afraid he would get sick like her. Trying to explain to him that that’s not the case, that Mya is sick in a different way. Taking care of a household where the boys can’t go to school like they normally would due to COVID and we can’t take the chance of Mya getting sick. They aren’t excited about not getting to experience their kindergarten year and meet friends but are understanding about it. But what I can say, is that it’s made my kids grow up faster than I expected. To see them help her when she isn’t feeling good, help me with her medicine to give her when she isn’t feeling good, and not hungry because of the chemo, they give her the most positive support I could ever want! Our life has done a complete 180 with the situation we were handed. We take it day by day and pray that she comes out of this stronger than ever. Thank you for helping us!
